Mark Ling: A Profile
Twenty-six years in online marketing, three distinct eras, and the one thing that never changed.
| Active since | Late 1990s — first affiliate commission in 1999 |
| Known for | Affilorama, Traffic Travis, Profit Engine Live |
| Current product | Commission Cycle (2026) |
| Model | Annual September launch through a free multi-session event |
Three eras
The SEO era. Affilorama and Traffic Travis. Article marketing, backlinks, keyword tools. A generation of affiliates started there.
The product era. Profit Helix — digital products, memberships, Skool communities. Building rather than promoting.
The social era. Commission Cycle. Instagram, YouTube, DM automation and bundled AI tooling.
The constant
His own framing is that he has changed traffic source roughly seven times in twenty-six years and never once changed what he does with the profit. That claim is the spine of the current product, and it is also the most checkable thing about him: the businesses span channels with almost nothing in common, and he is still operating.
Why longevity is the useful metric here. This industry has enormous churn. Almost nobody teaching affiliate marketing in 2006 is still doing it. Survival across three channel eras is a harder signal to fake than any number.
Which Mark Ling is this?
This page is about Mark Ling the affiliate marketer — the founder of the affiliate training platform Affilorama, active in online marketing since the late 1990s, and known for running an annual September product launch.
It is worth saying plainly, because the name is a common one and search results for it are genuinely mixed. There are other people called Mark Ling working in entirely unrelated fields — metalwork, medicine, communications, film — and none of them has any connection to affiliate marketing or to anything else on this site. If you arrived looking for one of them, this is not the page you want.
How to tell you have the right one
Four markers identify the affiliate marketer specifically, and all four are checkable rather than asserted.
- Affilorama. He founded it. If the Mark Ling you are reading about is not connected to Affilorama, it is a different person.
- Traffic Travis. The SEO tool from the same stable, which places him in the mid-2000s SEO era.
- An annual September launch. The pattern has repeated for several consecutive years, most recently with Commission Cycle in 2026.
- New Zealand. Affilorama was built from there, which is the detail most often used to distinguish him.
Why the confusion matters if you are researching a purchase
Someone weighing a four-figure course does the sensible thing and searches the seller's name — and on this particular name, that search returns a scatter of unrelated people, which makes the track record look thinner than it is.
The record is not thin. Two decades of continuously operating businesses across three completely different traffic channels is unusual in a market where most sellers appear once and are gone. The difficulty is purely that a common name makes it hard to assemble in one search, which is what this page exists to fix.
What is verifiable, and what is a claim
Worth separating, because they are treated very differently here.
- Verifiable: Affilorama exists and has for around two decades. Traffic Travis existed. The September launches have run in consecutive years. The products are publicly documented.
- His own claim: the framing about changing traffic source repeatedly while never changing what he does with the profit. That is his account of his own history, reported here as his account rather than as established fact.
Nothing on this page states an income figure, because none can be verified from published material and an unverifiable number is worth less than no number.
