The conditions as they stand
A programme is a response to a market. Understanding what changed recently explains why current training looks the way it does and why material from a few years ago reads as dated.
What shifted
Production became cheap for everyone. The ability to generate volume stopped being an advantage the moment the whole field acquired it, which moved the scarce resource from output to distinctiveness.
Attention concentrated in short-form video. Not a new observation, and its consequence is: methods built around written content and search alone now address a smaller share of where people actually are.
Platforms hardened against outbound links. Every major feed now suppresses content that sends people away, which broke the link-in-bio model that an entire generation of training was built on.
What that does to training
It obsoletes the parts about traffic and leaves the parts about offers and audiences intact. A course recorded four years ago is usually still correct about what to promote and substantially wrong about how to get anybody there.
That asymmetry is why the annual-rebuild model persists in this category while evergreen courses in more stable fields do fine.
What did not survive the last three years
Approaches built on cheap outbound clicks and on publishing volume for its own sake. Both worked while the platforms tolerated them and both stopped when the incentives changed.
Anyone reading material that assumes either is reading a document from a previous era, however recently it was posted.
The mechanism the market moved toward
Keeping the transaction inside the platform. Comment-driven messaging is the current expression of that, and its advantage is structural rather than clever - it asks the platform for something the platform wants to give.
Tactics that align with a platform's incentives outlive tactics that exploit gaps in them, which is the most durable lesson available from the last decade of this industry.
What has not changed
The economics. Commission per sale multiplied by sales, against effort. Choosing offers that pay enough remains the decision with the largest effect on outcomes, and it has been true through every platform shift.
Anyone learning this now should notice that the durable half of the syllabus is the unglamorous half.
What this means for anyone evaluating older material
Split it in two. The half about offers, audiences and economics is still largely correct and transfers between years. The half about traffic mechanics is where obsolescence concentrates.
Reading old material with that split in mind makes it useful again rather than discarding it wholesale, which is the mistake in the other direction.
What to expect next
More of the same pressure on outbound traffic, and continued advantage to whoever has something specific to say. That direction has been consistent for several years and nothing currently visible reverses it.
